Metal carports are a popular solution for a garage or car port. Fully enclosed carports are often times insulated after construction. Because metal carports are constructed with 2" x 2" square tubing, 2 5/8" R-8 insulation is typically installed. The R-8 insulation batts are laminated with a white polypropylene facing. A heavy duty facing is recommended in metal carports due to the possible heavy traffic in the car port. The insulation blankets are cut to fit in between the metal square tubing and either secured with insulation stick pins or with steel banding. The blankets can run from the base of one wall, up and over the roof, and down to the base of the other wall. Securing the blankets with steel banding is the most efficient and cost effective solution.
